Summer Solstice

A red-tailed hawk lunched in the arboretum today. Unfortunately, the photographer interrupted the meal.

Feathers were seen on the ground under the bald cypress near the Student Union Building. A red-tailed hawk was spied with another bird clutched in its talons.

After being pestered by the photographer and other passersby, the hawk flew and dropped its lunch, which appears to be an immature water bird.

...and then chased to an oak tree.
