Zigzag Iris (Iris brevicaulis)

It's late November in Northwest Louisiana. There are still mosquitoes outside, but they aren't as numerous, and they are pathetically slow-moving. Now's a good time to work in the wet or damp areas, like this Louisiana iris bed.
During the summer months, it's near impossible to keep the weeds at bay. Dewberry, asters and various grasses will typically over-run these zig-zag irises. When fall rolls around, this bed is always in need of attention.
