Swamp Rose (Rosa palustris)

A large swamp rose bush can be found on the western drainage channel in the arboretum. It developed from two small plants collected by Professor Ed Leuck from the Louisiana Native Plant Society annual meeting held in January 1997. John Mayronne, from Covington, Louisiana, brought the plants to the meeting.

These photos were taken just after a heavy rain on May 4, 2019. At the time, water was flowing over the ground under the rose bush, but this spot does not hold standing water.
