There is one large oak-leaf hydrangea (Hydrangea quercifolia) hedge in the arboretum. The hedge developed over the years from six individual plants. The first two plants were collected in 1985, from the Caroline Dormon Nature Preserve, located in Bienville Parish. In 1988, Jack Price of Caddo Parish donated three additional plants. The last plant came from Akin's Nursery, located here in Shreveport. |
The large, white flowers have a wonderful fragrance. |
