Persistent Racemes

The swamp titi (Cyrilla racemiflora) has persistent racemes. In February, we find last year's racemes mixed in among the remaining green leaves. The fruits are also still attached.
Titi racemes are long. This one measures nearly 11 inches in length. The racemes tend to twist, turn, curve and bunch together.
Titi fruits, though small, are numerous.
Fruits measure a little more than a sixteenth of an inch.
The tiny fruits can be found around the base of the tree and in low spots not far off from the tree.
