| Over the past several weeks, cascades of wisteria flowers
have added springtime charm to the landscapes of northwest Louisiana. If
you perchance had the pleasure of experiencing the flowers up-close,
perhaps they were delightfully fragrant? If they were, then those
particular flowers belonged to one of the non-native Wisteria vines. Our native wisteria (Wisteria frutescens) can be found in the arboretum, and, unfortunately, it is without the characteristic enchanting fragrance. |

| Despite the lack of fragrance, native wisteria is still a good choice for the ornamental garden. The flowers are very handsome. |
