This past fall, a young post oak (Quercus stellata) was transplanted from rural Caddo parish into the ground of the arboretum (read about it here). When digging up plants, we are potentially damaging the root system, so we can't say how the plant will recover from the change in location. Although it's a very small plant, this little post oak had a long taproot. Luckily, things are looking good this spring. As pictured in the photo, we have all new leaves. |
